A short exposition on the development of multidisciplinary 3D models!

The concept of developing 3D virtual models for the purpose of executing a building project was not there for long instead it is a new trend that have been optimized by AEC professionals for streamlining building activities or methods.  Until BIM’s presence in the industry CAD software served the purpose of developing models. But modeling process was soon dominated by BIM software such as Revit in context of construction industry. Huge amount of information and data is needed by BIM modelers for developing multidiscipline 3D models. In other words design data or information is required by the modelers of service providing company for the execution of modeling services.

Be it architectural, structural or MEP model, they are all developed on the basis of the design developed by relevant engineers. On the other hand multidiscipline 3D models are created on the basis of design created by architect, structural engineer or MEP engineers. So the information related to the design is always present in the CAD drawings which are developed by the technicians at the time of drafting process. In other words execution of architectural, structural and MEP drafting is very crucial prior to the execution of modeling services since relevant drafting documents are used for reference purpose during modeling.

So it is important for the modelers of the service providing company that they have all the necessary drafting documents with them while they develop 3D models. While working on a Revit modeling project CAD files are generally linked by the modelers in their current project for extracting the information. For example while making 3D floor plans in Revit it is important for modelers to have all the CAD floor plan drawings with them which when linked to the project help in obtaining information.

So in this way more than one CAD file is linked by the modelers to their current project for developing effective models. It’s not just the CAD drawings that are used for getting information however thing like PDF and other external sources are optimized by BIM modelers for developing precise 3D models in BIM software.

A brief account on BIM’s expansion over the years

Building Information Modeling has a dramatic history when it comes to its expansion in the landscapes of AEC industry over the years. BIM which is also known as Virtual Design and Construction has a dominant presence in AEC industry because of the fact that is has the potential to realize project outcomes and can control them significantly as per requirement. In short design and construction professionals can attain superior control over project outcomes by analyzing multidiscipline models. Well, Building Information Modeling evolved as a concept some four decades ago but it was not practiced by AEC professionals in the industry at that time. For approximately ten years since it first appeared in the journal, the term ‘BIM’ used to be seen only in research papers. BIM as a technology and a process started to be implemented in construction projects some thirty years ago. So once AEC professionals started using BIM in construction they never looked back to their sluggish performanc

Structural Design Procedure: Step Wise Description

Construction of the building requires humongous time as it includes development of multiple disciplines like architecture, structure, MEP and ultimately bringing them all together. Amid all these discipline structural design is one of the most subtle disciplines as it strengthens the building and makes it stand still. It doesn’t mean that other disciplines are not important; however structural design is more convoluted. Before structure gets developed, initially lots of analyses are conducted in order to ensure sustenance of the building. The procedure starts with several analyses like site analysis, soil analysis load calculation etc. Site analysis is conducted to have an idea about feasibility of construction while soil analysis is done to identify the quality of soil and whether it is able to endure the load of the building. In load calculation it is being calculated that how much load a structure can bear. Having received green signal from all those analyses design

MEP systems provide the momentum to the building

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are incredibly crucial for any sort of building, be it residential, commercial or industrial.   The design for these systems is prepared by MEP modelers who have vast experience in the execution of BIM modeling services.  They develop design for MEP systems in Revit MEP software which is quintessentially dedicated to the design development of MEP systems only. MEP systems consist of HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems. Detailed explanation of these systems is following  HVAC Systems These systems comprise of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems. HVAC systems have to be accurate since they are responsible for the circulation of various resources. The design of these systems must be created in a way that they reach to every part of the building where they supposed to reach. They are utilized in all kinds of building projects as well as non building projects such as industrial and c
