A brief account on the development of 3D models

The trend of developing 3D models is not that old in the landscapes of AEC industry when it comes to optimizing them for building construction. Much before BIM came into picture, 3D CAD models were used by AEC professionals to represent the design of distinguished building systems such as architecture, structure and MEP. But limited information is derived by construction professionals from 3D CAD models which kind of restricted them from effective utilizations of these models for constructing the building. But once Building Information Modeling made its appearance in the landscapes of Architecture Engineering and Construction industry, construction industry professionals managed to get all kinds of necessary information.

BIM models gave new dimension to architects, engineers, contractors and building owners to extract information such as time and cost involved for accomplishing the building. Exact calculation of time and money needed for the project, helped owners in enhancing the productivity of the project. In other words 4D and 5D BIM models proved to be extremely helpful for owners since they enabled them to estimate exact time and cost of the project. This eventually helped them in optimizing that information for increasing project productivity.

For the development of BIM models it is important for any service providing company to have multitalented staff. That highly skilled BIM modelers are required who are highly proficient in handling high tech modeling software. In short their knowledge regarding software applications is very crucial when it comes to accurately using its distinctive tools and features.

Another most significant thing for developing 3D models is the use of right software by the service providing company. Choosing the best modeling software is highly crucial and mostly Revit is used for this purpose by AEC professionals.

While developing 3D models an entire team of BIM modelers is required and what remains important is their collaboration with each other for generating effective model. Accurate models can only be developed when the information required for generating them is successfully shared between the entire team. Accessibility of information helps in clearing the doubts of design development team and finally in developing productive and effective models.

A brief account on BIM’s expansion over the years

Building Information Modeling has a dramatic history when it comes to its expansion in the landscapes of AEC industry over the years. BIM which is also known as Virtual Design and Construction has a dominant presence in AEC industry because of the fact that is has the potential to realize project outcomes and can control them significantly as per requirement. In short design and construction professionals can attain superior control over project outcomes by analyzing multidiscipline models. Well, Building Information Modeling evolved as a concept some four decades ago but it was not practiced by AEC professionals in the industry at that time. For approximately ten years since it first appeared in the journal, the term ‘BIM’ used to be seen only in research papers. BIM as a technology and a process started to be implemented in construction projects some thirty years ago. So once AEC professionals started using BIM in construction they never looked back to their sluggish performanc

Structural Design Procedure: Step Wise Description

Construction of the building requires humongous time as it includes development of multiple disciplines like architecture, structure, MEP and ultimately bringing them all together. Amid all these discipline structural design is one of the most subtle disciplines as it strengthens the building and makes it stand still. It doesn’t mean that other disciplines are not important; however structural design is more convoluted. Before structure gets developed, initially lots of analyses are conducted in order to ensure sustenance of the building. The procedure starts with several analyses like site analysis, soil analysis load calculation etc. Site analysis is conducted to have an idea about feasibility of construction while soil analysis is done to identify the quality of soil and whether it is able to endure the load of the building. In load calculation it is being calculated that how much load a structure can bear. Having received green signal from all those analyses design

MEP systems provide the momentum to the building

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are incredibly crucial for any sort of building, be it residential, commercial or industrial.   The design for these systems is prepared by MEP modelers who have vast experience in the execution of BIM modeling services.  They develop design for MEP systems in Revit MEP software which is quintessentially dedicated to the design development of MEP systems only. MEP systems consist of HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems. Detailed explanation of these systems is following  HVAC Systems These systems comprise of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems. HVAC systems have to be accurate since they are responsible for the circulation of various resources. The design of these systems must be created in a way that they reach to every part of the building where they supposed to reach. They are utilized in all kinds of building projects as well as non building projects such as industrial and c
