Use BIM for design modifications!

BIM has been present in the construction industry for the last 30 years and in between these decades many revolutionary changes have been brought by this technology. It is optimized by architects and engineers to represent the physical and functional characteristics of the building in a digital form. When a construction project is executed with the assistance of BIM, the first and most important step is to create intelligent 3D models for the representation of different building systems such as architecture, structure and MEP.
First of all an architectural framework is designed by an architect for the building in question and later on other systems such as structural framework and MEP systems are designed by Structural Engineers and MEP engineers respectively. Structural framework and MEP systems are designed to support the architectural design of the building and hence architect’s specifications are taken seriously by both structural and MEP engineers for designing their models.
So 3D models, which are developed by utilizing Revit software represent the final design of the building systems. Hence it is important that multidiscipline models are developed accurately as per architect’s specifications.
The good thing is that, Revit has unique features and tools which help the design development teams to integrate and collaborate with each other when  design of building systems  are developed.
By collaborating with each other, design team, which include design coordinators, BIM modelers and sometimes architects and engineers high quality building design is created or developed. Design details are shared between the team members and that helps them in improving the design.
With the assistance of Revit the whole design team can collaborate on the same model and hence modifications can also be made on that model by individuals. But it all depends upon the design requirement. If in case one of the design members feels that certain alterations can help in buildings performance it is applied in the model.

In this way various, new design ideas are discovered by the design team which are successfully implemented in the design.

A brief account on BIM’s expansion over the years

Building Information Modeling has a dramatic history when it comes to its expansion in the landscapes of AEC industry over the years. BIM which is also known as Virtual Design and Construction has a dominant presence in AEC industry because of the fact that is has the potential to realize project outcomes and can control them significantly as per requirement. In short design and construction professionals can attain superior control over project outcomes by analyzing multidiscipline models. Well, Building Information Modeling evolved as a concept some four decades ago but it was not practiced by AEC professionals in the industry at that time. For approximately ten years since it first appeared in the journal, the term ‘BIM’ used to be seen only in research papers. BIM as a technology and a process started to be implemented in construction projects some thirty years ago. So once AEC professionals started using BIM in construction they never looked back to their sluggish performanc

Structural Design Procedure: Step Wise Description

Construction of the building requires humongous time as it includes development of multiple disciplines like architecture, structure, MEP and ultimately bringing them all together. Amid all these discipline structural design is one of the most subtle disciplines as it strengthens the building and makes it stand still. It doesn’t mean that other disciplines are not important; however structural design is more convoluted. Before structure gets developed, initially lots of analyses are conducted in order to ensure sustenance of the building. The procedure starts with several analyses like site analysis, soil analysis load calculation etc. Site analysis is conducted to have an idea about feasibility of construction while soil analysis is done to identify the quality of soil and whether it is able to endure the load of the building. In load calculation it is being calculated that how much load a structure can bear. Having received green signal from all those analyses design

MEP systems provide the momentum to the building

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are incredibly crucial for any sort of building, be it residential, commercial or industrial.   The design for these systems is prepared by MEP modelers who have vast experience in the execution of BIM modeling services.  They develop design for MEP systems in Revit MEP software which is quintessentially dedicated to the design development of MEP systems only. MEP systems consist of HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems. Detailed explanation of these systems is following  HVAC Systems These systems comprise of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems. HVAC systems have to be accurate since they are responsible for the circulation of various resources. The design of these systems must be created in a way that they reach to every part of the building where they supposed to reach. They are utilized in all kinds of building projects as well as non building projects such as industrial and c
