Determine the size of your family according to your project requirement in Revit!

Revit is considered the best choice by architects, engineers, BIM modelers and technicians working in AEC industry for creating families. Families are basically used by BIM modelers while executing Revit modeling services. That makes Revit and Revit modeling services an integral part of construction project execution.

Family size matters a lot when it comes to designing a building. In Revit technicians have the luxury to control family size as per the requirement of their project. If in case a smaller size door is required for one of the rooms in the building it can be easily created by using the Family Editor tool of Revit. Revit Family Editor has vital features for developing custom families. The Family size can be controlled by BIM modelers by assigning required dimensions for the family.  In other words the geometry of the family can be easily controlled by assigning parameters in Revit. Take an example of door family; it’s up to Revit modelers what dimensions they want to assign in terms of its height and width to the family. Similarly any size windows, stairs, elevators etc can be created in Revit.

This Revit tool is eventually very helpful for owners, since with its assistance they can easily get the building design as desired by them. Revit Family Editor is extremely important for designers and BIM modelers.

For creating a family in Revit Family Editor, its users have to first open a family template. A family template has the potential of containing or having multiple views such as elevation view and a plane view etc. The Revit Family Editor looks somewhat similar to Project Environment in Revit.  However, Family Editor includes or is equipped with unique tools and features which are quite different from Project Environment in Revit.

The family Editor in Revit can be accessed by its users by creating a new family file. Some of its important tools include Family Types tool, Dimension tools, Model line tool, and symbolic line tool etc. All these tools are quite necessary for creating a family as per your project requirement.

A brief account on BIM’s expansion over the years

Building Information Modeling has a dramatic history when it comes to its expansion in the landscapes of AEC industry over the years. BIM which is also known as Virtual Design and Construction has a dominant presence in AEC industry because of the fact that is has the potential to realize project outcomes and can control them significantly as per requirement. In short design and construction professionals can attain superior control over project outcomes by analyzing multidiscipline models. Well, Building Information Modeling evolved as a concept some four decades ago but it was not practiced by AEC professionals in the industry at that time. For approximately ten years since it first appeared in the journal, the term ‘BIM’ used to be seen only in research papers. BIM as a technology and a process started to be implemented in construction projects some thirty years ago. So once AEC professionals started using BIM in construction they never looked back to their sluggish performanc

Structural Design Procedure: Step Wise Description

Construction of the building requires humongous time as it includes development of multiple disciplines like architecture, structure, MEP and ultimately bringing them all together. Amid all these discipline structural design is one of the most subtle disciplines as it strengthens the building and makes it stand still. It doesn’t mean that other disciplines are not important; however structural design is more convoluted. Before structure gets developed, initially lots of analyses are conducted in order to ensure sustenance of the building. The procedure starts with several analyses like site analysis, soil analysis load calculation etc. Site analysis is conducted to have an idea about feasibility of construction while soil analysis is done to identify the quality of soil and whether it is able to endure the load of the building. In load calculation it is being calculated that how much load a structure can bear. Having received green signal from all those analyses design

MEP systems provide the momentum to the building

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are incredibly crucial for any sort of building, be it residential, commercial or industrial.   The design for these systems is prepared by MEP modelers who have vast experience in the execution of BIM modeling services.  They develop design for MEP systems in Revit MEP software which is quintessentially dedicated to the design development of MEP systems only. MEP systems consist of HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems. Detailed explanation of these systems is following  HVAC Systems These systems comprise of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems. HVAC systems have to be accurate since they are responsible for the circulation of various resources. The design of these systems must be created in a way that they reach to every part of the building where they supposed to reach. They are utilized in all kinds of building projects as well as non building projects such as industrial and c
