Difference between 3D and 2D floor plans

Floor plans are very important for describing the entire design of a floor.  Generally Floor plans are developed by architects but with the growth of CAD technology, it’s the CAD technicians who are now responsible for developing them with the assistance of Architects. Prior to advent of CAD software, architects and engineers used to visit the location and based on their location analysis they used to create the drawings manually and that was not at all easy. All kinds of construction drawings used to be generated by architects and engineers including the floor plans.

But with the advent of CAD technology, development of construction drawings including floor plan became very convenient. Now apart from architects and engineers, CAD technicians are also involved in the generation of floor plans. CAD technicians are highly trained in computer skills and hence they are responsible for executing drafting services wherein drawings generated for the designed buildings.

2D floor plans are developed by utilizing two basic dimensions that are length and breadth, and since height is missing in them they appear like simple plain paper drawings. In 2D floor plans, things like doors, stairs, windows etc are represented by symbols and this makes it difficult for to understand. People who are nowhere associated to construction industry can hardly understand anything regarding the building design from 2D floor plans. Another important thing is that these plans are not at all visually attractive.

But 3D floor plans which are developed by using three basic building dimensions that include length, breadth and height are much more informative than 2D floor plans. It is very easy to understand the design of a building floor by looking at 3D floor plan. Each and every feature of the design can be understood by clients or owners after looking at them.

A 3D floor plan shows the positioning of all the important elements of a floor such as placement of windows, stairs, and doors including the location of the rooms. So by viewing 3D floor plans one can easily understand which room is located in which direction and from where can one enter there.

A brief account on BIM’s expansion over the years

Building Information Modeling has a dramatic history when it comes to its expansion in the landscapes of AEC industry over the years. BIM which is also known as Virtual Design and Construction has a dominant presence in AEC industry because of the fact that is has the potential to realize project outcomes and can control them significantly as per requirement. In short design and construction professionals can attain superior control over project outcomes by analyzing multidiscipline models. Well, Building Information Modeling evolved as a concept some four decades ago but it was not practiced by AEC professionals in the industry at that time. For approximately ten years since it first appeared in the journal, the term ‘BIM’ used to be seen only in research papers. BIM as a technology and a process started to be implemented in construction projects some thirty years ago. So once AEC professionals started using BIM in construction they never looked back to their sluggish performanc

Structural Design Procedure: Step Wise Description

Construction of the building requires humongous time as it includes development of multiple disciplines like architecture, structure, MEP and ultimately bringing them all together. Amid all these discipline structural design is one of the most subtle disciplines as it strengthens the building and makes it stand still. It doesn’t mean that other disciplines are not important; however structural design is more convoluted. Before structure gets developed, initially lots of analyses are conducted in order to ensure sustenance of the building. The procedure starts with several analyses like site analysis, soil analysis load calculation etc. Site analysis is conducted to have an idea about feasibility of construction while soil analysis is done to identify the quality of soil and whether it is able to endure the load of the building. In load calculation it is being calculated that how much load a structure can bear. Having received green signal from all those analyses design

MEP systems provide the momentum to the building

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are incredibly crucial for any sort of building, be it residential, commercial or industrial.   The design for these systems is prepared by MEP modelers who have vast experience in the execution of BIM modeling services.  They develop design for MEP systems in Revit MEP software which is quintessentially dedicated to the design development of MEP systems only. MEP systems consist of HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems. Detailed explanation of these systems is following  HVAC Systems These systems comprise of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems. HVAC systems have to be accurate since they are responsible for the circulation of various resources. The design of these systems must be created in a way that they reach to every part of the building where they supposed to reach. They are utilized in all kinds of building projects as well as non building projects such as industrial and c
