It’s been centuries since construction work has
begun commercially. Every passing decade added some innovation and left with a
limitation to deal with. Of course it is undisputed that the industry was getting
better and better yet the pace of this advancement wasn’t really remarkable.
The issues like degradation in productivity, rising cost, delay in completion
of the project were still to solve.
Well, these
are the issues which have hindered the growth of the construction industry.
Each stakeholder belonging to this field was seeking salvation, until Building
Information Modeling was invented and reached out to the public. The age
brought by high tech tools including BIM is defined in golden letters in the
book of Architectural and Engineering industry.
Initially Architectural drawings used to be developed
manually. Though, AutoCAD 2D architectural software was launched afterwards
which has made this task a bit easier, but highly advanced and organized software
was yet to launch.
Building Information Modeling is executed in Revit, which
is software that launched in 1997 with feature of 3D modeling and converting 2D into 3D by applying required
information. Eventually, Revit launched its individual versions for facilitating
the requirements of each discipline such as Architecture, Structure and MEP. Revit
Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP brought a drastic improvement in
the AEC industry.
BIM added the
vital celerity to the Architectural and Engineering design process. The process
which used to consume many enormous time can now be completed within few hours
with more efficiency. Earlier the rate of errors was so high that it used to
cause a lot of rework. This limitation has eliminated by BIM which reinforced
flawless construction.
